Giving Tuesday: Hay for Horses
This Giving Tuesday we’re asking folks to fund some very special horses who work hard to support people with disabilities in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. These loving and sensitive (and large!) furry friends work magic with their human companions. They help our clients with disabilities who take lessons at New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding. Our theme this year is: Hay for Horses….
Did you know?
Therapeutic horse riding programs bring joy, cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being to individuals in our community with special needs! Just experiencing the rhythmic movement of the horse is therapeutic; riders with physical disabilities can greatly improve flexibility, balance, and muscle strength within weeks.
But it costs a lot to feed and take good care of our horses.
That’s why we need you to donate now to our special Giving Tuesday campaign. Here are some of our costs:
$27 buys a bale of hay. Our herd of 8 eats 2-3 bales a day = $75
$32 buys a bag of grain. 2 bags a week = $64
$39 a week pays for special medicine and supplements
$920 pays for our farrier to come every 6 weeks to keep the herd’s feet in good condition.
